Blair's talk was on how education can increase ones testimony. He was given the scripture Alma 37:35 "O, remember, my son, and learn wisdom in thy youth; yea, learn in thy youth to keep the commandments of God." He told a story that Pres. Hinkley had given about a tree he had planted that hadn't been given any direction while it was a young plant. It had grown into a tree with a thick trunk that leaned too much to one side. It needed to be cut back to straighten it out and then it became a great asset to their yard. Blair likened this story to some experiences of his own and how with a little direction from adults in his life he was able to straighten out some disasters that had come because of some of his bad choices. Those experiences strengthened his testimony of the necessity of commandments, being obedient and learning things while you are still young. He did a great job and was very comfortable at the podium speaking in front of the congregation. He looked good too, in his new suit and haircut! He had lots of family and friends there to cheer him on.

The Lewis side missed a picture at the church. But they were there! |

Close friends who were still in town were a great support. |
