Looks Like He Made It!

November 20, 2013

Blair spent the night with his aunt and uncle in Sandy, Utah who literally had to drop him off at the MTC. He has two suitcases stuffed with everything he might need for two years. He had to keep them under 50 pounds each and just barely made it!
He was able to get a picture in front of the Provo Temple before someone whisked him away to find his room, meet his roommate, and get started speaking Romanian.
Blair will be at the Missionary Training Center in Provo for about 6 weeks to learn the Romanian language and do some role playing to prepare him for teaching people who are interested in learning more about the gospel of Jesus Christ and The Book of Mormon.
We were able to talk to Blair on the phone before he left for the MTC. That will be the last phone call we will get until Christmas. He will also call on Mother's Day. Missionaries are to stay focused on the work of the Lord and have no cell phones, computers, or t.v. He will, however, have 90 mins. a week to read and write emails to family and friends. That same day is a personal day that is meant for doing laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning, and site seeing.

The Provo Temple will be closed during Blair's time in Utah.
He is bummed because Romania doesn't have a temple yet and
he doesn't know if they will travel the 13 hours to get to the closest one.
Throughout history, the Lord has commanded His people to build temples. Temples are literally houses of the Lord. They are holy places of worship where individuals make sacred promises with God.     ~ from lds.org
